AdDuplex is a popular cross-promotion network for Windows Store games and apps that just revealed its monthly Windows Devices Statistics Report. The company’s data is based on samples of Windows 10 machines available on the market and only takes into consideration the devices running Windows Store apps and using the AdDuplex SDK. With this report, the company has some very interesting news regarding the whole Windows 10 ecosystem.

AdDuplex’s latest report

The company’s newest report is based on data collected during the two weeks since the Creators Update started to roll out to all Windows 10 users throughout the world. AdDuplex also shared some new information about Windows 10 Mobile phones.

According to the report, it seems that the Lumia phones are still the most popular Windows phones in the world even if Microsoft is not manufacturing or marketing them anymore. The most popular Lumia device in the sample is the Lumia 640, which is also one of the two oldest handsets (along with Lumia 640XL) able to receive Windows 10 Creators Update. AdDuplex also reported that 4 out of 10 top phones are unfortunately not going to get the official Creators Update. Over 10% of mobile phone users are currently running the Windows 10 Creators Update or the newest builds from the development branch on their devices.

Regarding Windows 10 PCs, AdDuplex says that almost 10% are already running the Creators Update and the company points talks about the similarities with the Anniversary Update from last year.

The Creators Update propagation by the PC manufacturer

As expected, Microsoft is the first in line with its 20% devices already running the latest version of the operating system. MSI is very close, on the other hand. Microsoft’s most recent devices such as the Surface Book and the Surface Pro 4 are receiving the Creators Update first. It is important to keep in mind that AdDuplex has not included in its chart the Surface Studio considering the low numbers of devices, a number that is too low to produce some meaningful results.

The Windows Phone user base is more and more fragmented as most users still run Windows Phone 8.1 and now it also seems that 40% of Windows 10 Mobile handsets are not going to receive the newest version of the operating system.
