Microsoft has announced yet another set of changes for Xbox Insiders.

With the New Preview Alpha Ring 1908 Update (1908.190722-1945) and the New Preview Alpha Skip Ahead Ring 1910 Update (1910.190721-1945) come some Home and Xbox One voice commands changes.

Home gets overhauled, again

Firstly, based on Insiders feedback, Microsoft is trying a new experimental Home user interface:

You can no longer talk to Cortana via the headset

But maybe the bigger change is to voice commands, as the ability to talk to Cortana via the headset has been removed.

With this new experimental Home design, the first thing you’ll notice is we’ve removed the Twists from the top of Home in favor of separate buttons that launch your gaming experiences. The goal is to let you jump into Xbox Game Pass, Mixer, Xbox Community and Microsoft Store quicker than ever. We’ve also shifted things around to make more room for your recently played titles.

From now on, if you want to use Xbox Voice commands to power your Xbox One, adjust volume, or launch games, you’ll have to do it through Skill for Cortana via the Cortana app on iOS, Android, and Windows or via Harmon Kardon Invoke speaker.

The update is available for Alpha Skip Ahead ring Insiders and it’s expected to roll out for all Xbox users this fall.

We’ll also continue to improve the Xbox Skill across supported digital assistants and continue expanding our Xbox voice capabilities in the future based on fan feedback.
