Many Windows Explorer design concepts have emerged lately. Some of them are complex and beautifully structured, while others are minimalist concepts containing only tones of a single color.

Since it’s the ‘Windows Explorer concept’ season, we’ve got a new one for you.

As you can see, this new concept is much more colorful than the previous concepts and features a pleasant design. The UI is very simple and intuitive and brings forth all the major components of Windows 10. In this manner, users can quickly access the one they need.

Unlike other concepts, it looks like the creator of this new design actually knows how important Explorer is and offered it a central position.

Many Redditors welcomed this design concept:

Of course, other users also offered the OP some suggestions so to improve the current design:

Congratulations /u/Assamin. This is the first concept in this sub I have ever seen that includes the ribbon and doesn’t remove functionality so it’s a glorified mobile UI on a desktop environment. This is more like what we’ll end up seeing.

So, what do you think about this new Windows Explorer concept? Have you got any improvement suggestions? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. The tab/address bar/ribbon area should be raised a bit, to get rid of the empty space between the tab and the top edge.
  2. The ribbon bar should have a lighter color. I feel like it’s too dark and stands out too much from the address bar. That color would be more suitable for a dark theme. I think the address bar is also a bit too dark.
  3. Readability suffers quite a lot in the sidebar, it has a bit too much translucency. Maybe using a different font color could help too. There are also readability issues in the main view. Otherwise, it’s a rather good idea. The full height sidebar gives more space overall which is a good thing, although looks a bit off when you glance it for the first time.
